WELCOME   NEWS

Welcome to the Kiliuda Rock website.  We’re a movie production company based in Kodiak, Alaska. This site is dedicated to How To Survive, a feature length narrative film produced in July 2008.  Ronald Jerry wrote the How To Survive screenplay.

Kiliuda Rock, formerly Kitty Productions created two prior movies.  Equivocation (2003) delves into the mysterious disappearance of a small town girl.  Cope (2006) a psychological thriller investigates ideas involving purgatory, memory, family and loss.  Cope was selected for a nation-wide commercial DVD release, along with foreign property sales.

September 30 2009 - How to Survive nears completion. After a long editing process we have a final cut of the movie.  Just last week we completed color correction and are currently working on audio levels and placing the score as it is recorded.  For those of you interested in what color correction really means, here are a few screenshots.  The upper left is as shot, the lower right is corrected:

This shot of Jack overlooking the mountains is a great example because you can clearly see the drastic difference in the green mountainside.  His clothes also appear much richer.

Some scenes have a more subtle difference, with more dramatic darks for a crisper and more cinematic feel.

Late in the movie color is used to make their circumstance seem more dismal.  Their clothes appear dirtier and there are few bright colors.

August 19 2009 - The website fell to the wayside as post production of How to Survive continued.  We are glad to have the site up and running again and we will post more updates in the near future.  We are nearing completion with a final cut of the movie and audio and scoring still in the process.  Thank You to everyone who has shown continiued interest and support!

September 2 2008 - Photos in the media section of the web site can now be enlarged for proper viewing.

August 26 2008 - It has been a wild summer!  Principle photography of How to Survive was wrapped on July 28th. The entire cast and crew worked diligently throughout the month of July gathering hours of fantastic footage.  Thank you to everybody who came to the set to support our endeavours.  Since then Ronald Jerry has begun the editing phase as well as gathering some integral 'B roll' including aerial photography.  Investigate the Media section for behind the scenes photographs and eventually the trailer!  The Talent section as also been upgraded with more photographs.
Check out the updated Talent and Media sections of the website!  Below is Director Ronald Jerry and Producers Dave Jackson and Robert Allen Wagner with the cast of How to Survive.

June 24th 2008 - Yesterday Ronald rigged the safety gear in the tree for the tree fall sequence and then practiced the fall, making sure it was not only feasible but easy and safe.  Time is also being spent doing gear gathering, food service planning (Thank you Susan Reid), scheduling and equipment preparation.

June 19th 2008 - We have continued working on the specifics of our shooting locations and in doing so gathered some pictures of Kodiak's turning green.  These are two shots of different areas where we will be shooting along the river.  We have also been tackling the daunting task of nailing down the shooting schedule.

May 31st 2008 - Yesterday was an exciting day for Kiliuda Rock.  Ronald along with the help of Michea and Paula Westbrook and Krystal Sullivan were out in the field preparing the integral tree fall sequence.  Also, many long hours were spent proofing and rewriting the script, again with the help of Krystal.

May 22nd 2008 -  Congratulations to our team member Rachel Whiddon who had a beautiful healthy baby girl on May 4th!  In movie news, we are nearly finalized with casting.  We have two actors locked in, and are in discussion with a few others.  Thank you to everyone who auditioned!  This is going to be a extremley exciting cast.  We are still working on script revisions, budgets, schedules, storyboards, etc. and are looking eagerly forward to being out there and rolling.  Kodiak is just beginning to turn green.  The trees and salmonberry bushes are starting to bud and poochki plants are starting to poke out of the soil.

April 21st 2008 - We are now entering the next phase of casting.  We have recieved many wonderful auditions from talented actors across the country.  Now we are begining to decide, based on those auditions, who we believe would best fit our cast.  We will also be concidering any late arriving auditions due to postage or circumstance.

April 16th 2008 - We are past the postmark deadline for audition submissions.  We do however welcome people to continue emailing or youtube posting auditions through Saturday April 19th.  Thank you to everybody has auditioned thus far, we believe this will be an excellent cast.

April 12th 2008 - A few pics from location scouting on Thursday.  Imagine the mountains a lot greener.
